‘Look out for signs early on before a landslide strikes’


Danger zone: A total of 327 cases of slope failures along federal roads nationwide have been identified and will be repaired with an allocation estimated at more than RM400mil, says Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. He adds that of those cases, 121 affected slopes have been repaired. — Bernama

GEORGE TOWN: Those living near slopes or places at risk of landslides should look out for signs such as cracks in the soil or constant streams of muddy water flowing from the slope when it rains.

Malaysia Civil Defence Force South Seberang Prai chief Capt C. Sehgar said landslides are usually triggered after a heavy downpour hitting the slopes.
