Man falls to his death, wife found fatally stabbed in bedroom

GEORGE TOWN: It was a tragic day for an 18-year-old teenager who returned home only to find both his parents dead.

His father, 54, had fallen from the apartment building while his mother, 46, was found with stab wounds in the couple’s bedroom at the 12th floor unit.

George Town deputy OCPD Supt V. Saravanan said police believe the couple had quarrelled before the man stabbed the woman and fell off the building.

He said police first received a distress call at 7.38am yesterday, claiming that a man’s body was found sprawled on the ground floor.He added that later at noon, the woman was found in the bedroom with stab wounds on her body, including her neck.

“A woman believed to be the boy’s grandmother came to the police station, saying that the unit on the 12th floor was locked and she could not gain access.

“After entering the unit, we found the woman’s body in the bedroom.Investigations revealed that the man who had fallen to his death earlier was the woman’s husband.

“We suspect the couple had quarrelled and that the man had stabbed his wife before he died,” Supt Saravanan told reporters at the scene yesterday.

He added that there were no signs of foul play or a break-in.

He said a knife believed to have been used in the incident was found. Supt Saravanan also said investigations were ongoing and the post-mortem results were pending.
