Let top leadership decide on Muafakat Nasional, says Annuar

KOTA BARU: It is up to the top leadership of both Umno and PAS to decide on the future of their cooperation through Muafakat Nasional, says Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

The former Umno secretary-general, who was involved in the negotiation process up to the signing of the Muafakat Nasional charter on Sept 14, 2019 said such a major matter should be handled by the party leaders because the cooperation was decided upon by the PAS muktamar and Umno general assembly.

"As long as the muktamar and general assembly do not do anything, Muafakat Nasional still exists to me," he told reporters after visiting the Kelantan Broadcasting Department at Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) here on Thursday (Feb 3).

Annuar, who is Communications and Multimedia Minister, said anyone not involved in the formation of Muafakat Nasional should refrain from issuing statements and painting a negative picture of it.

It was reported earlier that Kelantan and Terengganu Umno had decided to sever ties with PAS in those states. – Bernama
