Covid-19: Over 500,000 kids aged five to 11 registered for vaccine, says Khairy

PETALING JAYA: Over half a million children between the ages of five and 11 have been registered for the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine by their parents, says Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (pic).

The 517,107 children registered made up about 15% of the total population in this age bracket totalling some 3.6 million, said Khairy, who described the figure as "a good start".

"The Health Ministry will continue to communicate the benefits of getting vaccinated.

"I’m hopeful that almost half the kids in Malaysia will get vaccinated by the end of February," he said in a series of tweets on Wednesday (Feb 2).

The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force for Children under Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali will also be working together with the Education Ministry, he said.

Khairy said booking links for children's vaccinations are currently being pushed out based on date of registration.

Parents who have yet to receive a link despite registering need not worry as they will be getting it soon, he added.
