PETALING JAYA: Malaysia has recorded a slight dip in Covid-19 cases with new infections reaching 4,915 on Sunday (Jan 30) after breaching the 5,000 mark over the past three days.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new cases bring the cumulative number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 2,865,984 cases since the pandemic began.
Out of the new cases, 4,727 were local infections while 188 were imported, said Dr Noor Hisham, adding that 99.2% or 4,876 cases were in Categories One and Two while 0.8% or 39 patients were in Categories Three, Four and Five.
“There are 120 cases requiring treatment in intensive care units (ICU) while 65 patients require ventilatory assistance.
“There are also 3,056 recoveries today and 14 new clusters,” said Dr Noor Hisham in a statement Sunday (Jan 30).
Meanwhile, the national infectivity rate or Rt (pronounced R-naught) stands at 1.14 as of Saturday (Jan 29), a slight decrease from the 1.15 Rt recorded on Friday (Jan 28).
