KOTA KINABALU: A day after the daily Covid-19 cases fell by 91 cases, the numbers spiked to 373 cases.
"We have 106 more new cases today," state Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said on Sunday (Jan 30).
He said there was an increase in the number with 161 cases detected while 132 were detected positive through symptomatic screening.
"These are signs that the infection has begun to spread in the community," he said in urging the public to be stringent in observing the SOPs especially during the current holidays.
He said 11 districts recorded double-digit daily cases on Sunday compared to only eight districts Saturday (Jan 29).
Five of these districts which recorded relatively high numbers were Kota Kinabalu 65, Tawau 54, Penampang 45, Sandakan 45 and Tuaran 36.
"Only four districts did not record any new cases," he said.
He said there were no new clusters recorded in the state.
However, he said five of the 17 active clusters in Sabah recorded 65 new cases.
Montenior Cluster, Kuala Penyu with 11 new cases.
Of the new cases, he said 365 or almost 98% of 373 cases Sunday were diagnosed under the mild Category 1 and 2, five cases in Category 3, two cases in Category 4 and one case under Category 5.
