GEORGE TOWN: Penang MCA is appealing for a chance to serve the people in the Bagan parliamentary constituency, having lost there in the last eight general elections.
Its chairman Datuk Tan Teik Cheng hopes voters would dare to change by voting for an MCA candidate in the next general election.
“Support us and give us a chance to set up a strong team to serve the people in Bagan. Bagan MCA division chairman, Dr Tan Chuan Hong, has been attending to the people’s problems and working diligently on the ground," said Teik Cheng.
“I am sure MCA candidates will perform well if given a chance in the general election," he added in a Facebook post showing Bagan MCA handing out face masks and hand sanitisers to hawkers and traders at the Mak Mandin market on Sunday (Jan 23).
“I believe we can bring development to the area if we are given a chance to voice out in Parliament,” he added.
Penang DAP has been holding the seat since 1986.
Teik Cheng said during the walkabout, the party also received positive feedback from the public, with most of them saying they could feel the sincerity of MCA in serving over the years.
“We still help in whatever way we could using our limited resources. It’s encouraging to get positive feedback from the public,” he said.
Teik Cheng said the market walkabout was held to mark the festive celebration, adding that the face masks and hand sanitisers would ensure better protection for the traders and hawkers.
“Bagan MCA division has a good service team comprising young members with calibre. They have been serving the people diligently on the ground,” he said.
