IPOH: A man believed to have gone missing since July 29 was found dead after his skeletal remains and motorcycle were discovered in a drain along the KM155.7 of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) in Bagan Datuk, Perak.
Bagan Datuk OCPD Supt Mohammad Ali Mohd Jali said that the incident was discovered after grass-cutting workers at the location detected a foul smell and found the human remains and a motorcycle in the drain.
“The police were informed about the incident at 3.39pm on Aug 5.
“Investigations revealed that the victim, believed to be riding alone from Teluk Intan towards Sabak Bernam, veered to the left side of the road and fell into the drain,” he said in a statement Wednesday (Aug 6).
“The victim did not receive assistance after the crash until the incident was discovered.
“Personal belongings found at the scene included a mobile phone, a Malaysian passport and cash believed to belong to the victim,” he said.
He added that further checks confirmed that a missing person report had been lodged by the victim’s family at the Teluk Intan police station on Aug 5 and believe the remains belong to a 35-year-old man who was reported missing since July 29.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and that investigations are ongoing.
