Covid-19: Omicron wave has started in Malaysia, expect cases to rise, says KJ

PETALING JAYA: The Omicron wave has begun in Malaysia and the number of cases will rise, says Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

However, Khairy assured Malaysians that the situation is under control as the country has a high vaccination rate.

“The healthcare system is prepared. Serious cases are falling. Let’s together overcome this. Mask #TRIIS (test, report, isolate, inform, seek). Booster #PICKids (vaccination for kids),” he tweeted on Thursday (Jan 26).

On Wednesday (Jan 26), the country recorded 4,744 new Covid-19 infections, bringing the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia to 2,844,969 cases since the pandemic began.
