Parents can register kids aged five to 11 for jabs

PETALING JAYA: Parents can now register their children aged from five to 11 for the Covid-19 vaccine via the MySejahtera app.

This was announced over Twitter by Health Ministry social media and communications consultant Aysha Ridzuan yesterday, which was retweeted by minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

“Covid-19 vaccination for five- to 11-year-olds will begin soon. If your children are your dependents on MySejahtera, you can add them as vaccine dependents to register for the vaccine.

“More details will be announced later,” she said.

Along with Aysha’s post was a screenshot of the MySejahtera app, showing that parents or guardians will need to provide the children’s full name and MyKad or passport numbers.

They also need to acknowledge that their children are aged five and above.

On Jan 6, the Drug Control Authority granted conditional registration approval for the Pfizer vaccine for children in that age group.

Khairy said the dosage approved for this age group would be lower than the vaccine given to those 12 and older.
