PUTRAJAYA: Johor will transition into Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), while Pahang will enter Phase 4, says Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
The Senior Minister said the decision was agreed by the Special Committee on Covid-19 Pandemic Management, which met on Wednesday (Oct 6).
The transitions will take effect on Oct 8.
“This transition of phases is made in accordance with the guidelines of the NRP, following the risk assessments conducted by the Health Ministry and the National Security Council (MKN).
“The standard operating procedures (SOPs) for states entering Phase 3 and 4 are the same as before and the latest updates will be reflected on www.mkn.gov.my,” said Hishammuddin in a statement Wednesday.
He said the meeting also agreed to several relaxations of Covid-19 preventive measures, which will take effect on Saturday (Oct 9).
This includes allowing wedding ceremonies at Hindu and Christian places of worship.
“The implementation of the “Thaali tying” ceremony at Hindu temples and “holy matrimony” for Christians will now be allowed during the NRP.
“The National Unity Ministry will inform Hindu and Christian religious associations of the SOPs that need to be complied with,” Hishammuddin said.
