Frontliners bring cheer to Bangi apartment residents under EMCO

PETALING JAYA: Photos and videos of frontliners attempting to cheer up residents under enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at an apartment in Bangi have warmed the hearts of social media users.

Images and videos posted by the Selangor State Information Department, show frontliners in full personal protective equipment (PPE) dancing and singing to popular tunes, and residents dancing along in their units.

"After entering the third day yesterday, the atmosphere in EMCO area at Pangsapuri Sri Ayu looked 'tense' with silence and appear less than cheerful. The occupants have been obeying instructions given," read the post on Facebook on Saturday (July 3).

"When we make announcements about information or instructions, it can sometimes be misunderstood. We know this situation may cause emotional changes. Who likes to sit confined, right? But this is an order from the authorities for public safety. All decisions are made for the common good in the long run," it added.

Through their past experience in managing informative announcements in the EMCO areas of Sungai Lui and Hentian Kajang, the department said that frontliners always give their best and try to cheer up residents with a little entertainment.

"Not only residents – staff also need this therapy. So, we're playing 'in' music right now and what's more, everyone is swaying! As everyone has completed their Covid-19 screenings and have work bracelets, tomorrow all the residents will have to stay at home!" it added.
