PETALING JAYA: A total of 62 victims of the recent LRT train crash have been discharged after receiving medical treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), says Prasarana CEO Datin Norlia Noah.

Norlia added that five victims remain warded and that she is praying for their recovery.

"Out of the five, three individuals have been placed in the normal ward and are expected to be discharged in the next two to seven days.

"Prasarana would like to thank HKL, led by hospital director Datuk Dr Heric Corray and all employees for treating and supporting the victims as well as their family members," she said in a statement on Saturday (May 29).

Meanwhile, Norlia said Prasarana would extend a goodwill payment to victims of the LRT train crash.

"The payment amount and right of admission will be determined once the details of passengers are filled."

As of 8am on Saturday (May 29), Norlia said 130 out of 213 passengers have been identified, including 12 foreigners from Indonesia, the Philippines, Iran, Bangladesh, and the Middle East.

"The embassies of the respective countries have been contacted," added Norlia.

Out of the 130, there are 19 passengers whose personal details were not completed, she said, adding that there are 83 passengers who still cannot be traced by Prasarana.

"Prasarana hopes passengers involved who have not contacted us can come forward immediately. This information is important for Prasarana to coordinate aid as mentioned before," said Norlia.

Victims can reach out to Prasarana at its specially-launched line 014-737 1130 or email recovery2021@prasarana.com.my.

"I would like to apologise to Malaysians and our passengers for this unwanted incident. We are disappointed with this incident as it has destroyed the good record of the Kelana Jaya LRT line, which has operated for the past 23 years." she added

Norlia also apologised for the manner the incident was managed by Prasarana, adding that the latest developments on victims who are still receiving treatment at HKL will be publicly announced.

She said the full recovery of the Kelana Jaya LRT line is extremely vital for those who live in urban areas.

"Prasarana would also like to thank personnel from the Fire and Safety Department, police, medical officers from HKL and the Civil Defence Force for acting fast in organising the rescue operation," said Norlia.

Norlia said Prasarana would cooperate fully with the investigating committee from the Transport Ministry and the police.

On Monday (May 24), an accident occurred involving two trains between the Kampung Baru and KLCC LRT station on the Kelana Jaya line.

A total of 47 victims were injured seriously and another 166 lightly injured.
