Covid-19: 2,847 new cases, Selangor records highest number of infections at 748

PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has announced 2,847 new Covid-19 cases in Malaysia on Friday (April 23).

Selangor recorded the most cases with 748 new infections, followed by Sarawak with 717 cases and Kelantan (476 cases).

This is the ninth consecutive day that the number of cases remained above the 2,000 mark.

Cumulatively, Malaysia has 387,535 confirmed cases since the pandemic began.


Eight more people died from the virus, taking the country's Covid-19 death toll up to 1,415.

Another 2,341 patients were discharged from treatment.

Total recoveries is now 363,608 or 93.83%

Active cases have now gone up to 22,512.

Currently, there are 260 patients under intensive care, with 125 requiring ventilator support.
