KLANG: Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador will meet Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin to explain the transfer order involving senior police officers.
This comes as a message claiming that there was political interference involving a Cabinet minister in connection with the transfer of a police chief had gone viral recently.
He said his action in issuing the transfer order was based on the law that states that the command and control of the police force is under the purview of the IGP.
"I issued the transfer order involving senior police officers for the benefit of all and it is not an extraordinary occurrence.
"However, while I am on leave, there was an order for the transfers to be delayed," he told a press conference after the launch of the Selangor Police's Amanita Taman Angkat event in Bandar Puteri on Saturday (April 10).
The IGP said he would meet with Hamzah to discuss the delayed transfers.
"The meeting is meant to explain my position and authority as the IGP.
"I will meet with him and give an explanation on why the transfers must go on," he added.
