Covid-19: Two M'sians, one foreigner make up country's three deaths on Friday (March 12)

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia recorded three new Covid-19 deaths on Friday (March 12), which means 1,203 people have succumbed to the coronavirus in the country to date.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the three deaths involved two Malaysians and one foreigner.

"The deaths were in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah. The ministry would like to express its condolences to the family members," said Dr Noor Hisham in a statement.

The deceased were a 69-year-old man in Sandakan, Sabah, a 69-year-old woman in Klang, Selangor and a 59-year-old foreign man in Kuala Lumpur.

The foreigner, who had a history of diabetes, was declared as "dead on arrival" at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz in Cheras.

Of the new cases, Dr Noor Hisham said seven were imported infections while the rest were local transmissions.

Nearly half of the country's infections were in Selangor, with 751 new cases or 47.7% of the total reported.

This was followed by Sarawak with 157 cases (11%) and Johor with 135 cases (8.6%).
