Works Ministry awaiting green light to build Sg Rambai health clinic, says Ahmad Maslan

JASIN: The Works Ministry is seeking the Health Ministry’s go-ahead to build a RM43.3mil health clinic in Sungai Rambai here.

Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan said the proposal had been submitted to the Health Ministry.

"The Works Ministry will take charge of construction once the project is approved.

"The proposed Sungai Rambai clinic is set to be built on a 3ha site in Jalan Parit Putat to improve healthcare facilities for the local community," he said after joining Barisan Nasional’s Sungai Rambai candidate Jezlee Pit on the campaign trail in Kampung Seri Mendapat on Wednesday (Nov 4).

Ahmad said former assemblyman Datuk Siti Faizah Abd Azis had pushed for the clinic as part of the Melaka government’s efforts to improve healthcare in the constituency.

"We hope the project can go ahead, but we have to be patient.

"Sometimes a project is already on paper, but it takes time before work starts on the ground," he said.

Ahmad, who is also an Umno supreme council member, said he was confident that Jezlee, known locally as "Tok Jez", could continue pressing for the clinic to be built.

He said Jezlee knew the area’s needs, having served as village head in Sungai Rambai and Merlimau and chaired the state’s council of village heads.
