DAP sacks nine Perak members

Chong Chieng Jen

IPOH: Nine state DAP members have been sacked with immediate effect, the party’s disciplinary committee announced.

Its chairman Chong Chien Jen said the committee terminated their membership despite six of them having tendered their resignation. He said the other three did not reply to their show-cause letters.

“Members are reminded that any act of showing support to an elected representative who had betrayed the party shall constitute an act of indiscipline against the party, ” he said in a statement.

Chong said the committee had received complaints of disciplinary breaches by Chong Lai Yeen, Fam Choy, Chan San Wei, Thai Lin Fong, Wong Kow, Yeoh Kok Thye, Chung Kooi Choy, Leong Wai Wah and Yong Teck Yin.

On Jan 18, Chong announced the sacking of DAP Malim Nawar assemblyman Leong Cheok Keng, saying “dual membership” was deemed treachery to the party, citing media reports of Leong having applied to join MCA.
