PUTRAJAYA: Failure to practise social distancing and cross-border travel without permission top the list of standard operating procedure offences recorded by the task force monitoring compliance of the movement control order.
A total of 146 individuals were arrested for not observing social distancing while 117 people were arrested for crossing state and district borders without police permission.
They were among 680 individuals who were nabbed for various SOP violations on Feb 11, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Other offences include activities at entertainment centres (106), not wearing face masks while in crowded public areas (86), failure to register customers details (64) and leaving the house without valid reasons (36).
The task force carried out 68,385 checks on various premises, including restaurants (6,014), supermarkets (4,335), hawkers (2,347), factories (1,671) and banks (4,049).
On Ops Benteng, authorities arrested 21 undocumented migrants and seized 10 land vehicles.
“Authorities detected the presence of 45 vessels in Malaysian waters during five sighting activities, ” he said on Friday (Feb 12).
On screening of foreign workers, the Human Resources Ministry reported that 9,138 workers were screened on Thursday, of which 120 tested positive for Covid-19.
Cumulatively, 362,067 foreign workers had been tested so far, involving 16,520 employers.
