PM: Technical committee formed to handle Emergency matters

PETALING JAYA: A technical committee on the management of the state of emergency has been formed to help monitor and manage any issues, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Prime Minister chaired a virtual National Security Council (MKN) meeting on the Emergency with mentris besar and chief ministers on Saturday (Jan 16) morning.

He said the committee was also responsible for looking into and studying issues related to the Emergency and find solutions to resolve them.

“The committee will also streamline the management of the Emergency with relevant stakeholders at both Federal and state levels.

“It will also lead the monitoring and enforcement of laws related to the Emergency at all levels, ” said Muhyiddin in a Facebook post on Saturday.

Apart from that, the committee would also be joined by eight permanent members.

They are the Public Service Department director-general, Treasury secretary-general, Attorney General, Armed Forces chief, Inspector-General of Police, Health director-general, National Security Council director-general and Cluster head.

“God willing, I hope that the committee formed will get the cooperation and support at all levels to ensure the management of Emergency can be done in an effective manner nationwide, ” said Muhyiddin.

He said the meeting was held at the Bangunan Perdana Putra in Putrajaya, but each member was in different rooms and levels in the building.

This is the first meeting held with Mentris Besar and chief ministers after the Emergency was declared on Jan 11 by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
