Perak: Five remaining exco members sworn in today (Dec 15)

IPOH: The remaining five state executive council members, including two representatives from PAS, were sworn-in before Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at Istana Kinta here today (Dec 15).

The swearing-in ceremony took place at 5.20pm.

The five exco’s appointed are the same faces from the previous state government led by Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

The five sworn-in were state PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria, the party’s state secretary Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin, Bersatu’s Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohd Radzi, Datuk Abdul Yunus Jamahri, and Umno’s Ahmad Saidi Mohamad Daud.

On Thursday (Dec 10) four out of the five exco members sworn-in at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar were also the same ones appointment under the leadership of Ahmad.

The only new face was Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's Sungai Manik assemblyman Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin.

The other four sworn in were Umno assemblymen Datuk Zolkafly Harun (Lintang), Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya (Rungkup), Datuk Dr Norashikin Wan Noordin (Kampong Gajah) and Khairul Shahrul Mohamed (Bota).

Earlier in the morning, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had an audience with the Ruler.

Hadi had on Dec 10 made the request for an audience to present to the Perak Ruler the latest political situation of the party.

Last Friday, three PAS assemblymen apologised to Sultan Nazrin for cancelling the audience with the Ruler on Dec 8.

It was reported that Razman called off the audience with Sultan Nazrin at Istana Kinta after he was instructed by the party leadership to do so during the Perak political crisis.

Razman and two other assemblymen, Mohd Akmal and Mohd Khalil Yahya, had been summoned to meet with the Sultan then for their views on state Umno chairman Datuk Saarani Mohamad as the mentri besar prior to the latter’s appointment.

Saarani, after the swearing-in ceremony, said the portfolios of the exco members would be known latest by next Wednesday (Dec 23)

He said with the budget tabling at the state assembly on Wednesday (Dec 16) and debate until Friday, he would need to settle the budget first.

“With Zainol appointed as a new exco, I will need to see if needs to be any changes in the portfolios.

“However, by next Wednesday they will know their roles, ” he told reporters outside Istana Kinta after the swearing-in ceremony.
