SOME RM230,000 in cash kept by a woman in a biscuit tin at her home in Penang have been damaged by termites, Sin Chew Daily reported. Four videos were uploaded on a Facebook page by a man who spoke in Hokkien.
He was arranging his grandmother’s money which was kept in a biscuit tin.
In the video, there are stacks of RM100 notes that were badly damaged by the termites.
He showed 23 stacks of RM100 notes amounting to RM230,000 and said that the notes were damaged.
“There are only three stacks that can still be used as only the edge of the notes were bitten by termites, ” the man said.
According to Bank Negara’s procedures and guidelines for assessment of mutilated notes and defaced notes, there are three categories of redemption value of a mutilated note.
Full value will be awarded to any piece of note which is more than two-thirds in size of the original note.
Half value will be awarded to any piece of note which is more than half but less than two-thirds in size of the original note.
No value will be awarded to any piece of note which is less than half in size of the original note.

For South Korea, six groups, 12 singers and actors have made it into the list.
They include South Korean groups BTS, Blackpink, EXO, Red Velvet, actors Lee Min Ho and Lee Sung Kyung, and actress Park Shin Hye.
