Missing teacher found safe in Pokok Sena, says police


GEORGE TOWN: A male Quran and Fardu Ain teacher who was reported missing last Saturday (Aug 22) after leaving his home at an apartment in Sungai Ara near here was found safe in Kampung Bukit Payong, Pokok Sena, Kedah early Wednesday (Aug 26).

Barat Daya police chief ACP Anuwal Ab Wahab said following further investigations, police managed to trace Mohamad Hijazi Zamri, 26, at a house in Kampung Bukit Payong.

"Checks found that the man was in good condition and had not sustained any physical injuries. He was subsequently taken to the Bayan Lepas police station for further action before being handed over to his family," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said police expressed their appreciation to all parties who had assisted in efforts to locate the man and advised the public not to make any speculation or disseminate unverified information regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Hijazi's father, Zamri Saidin, 53, when contacted, also expressed his appreciation to all parties who helped search for his son, as well as those who continued to pray for the safety of the eldest of his seven children.

He said he received a call from an individual who was also Mohamad Hijazi's friend, informing him that he had found his son and asking to speak to him over the phone to verify his voice.

Previously, police said investigations found that the man had asked his mother for permission to go to Surau Al-Muttaqin in Lilitan Sungai Ara on a blue Yamaha LC135 motorcycle. However, he did not return home and could not be contacted by his family. – Bernama
