KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia hopes Brunei will consider the proposal to establish a reciprocal green lane in an effort to revive economic activity between the two countries, which have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic) conveyed the message to Brunei High Commissioner to Malaysia Datuk Paduka Alaihuddin Mohd Taha when the latter paid him a courtesy call at his office at Parliament yesterday.
In a post on his Facebook page, Muhyiddin said Alaihuddin came to bid farewell as his tenure in Malaysia will end later this month.
He said they also discussed efforts to enhance bilateral relations in various aspects, including ways to overcome the impact of Covid-19.
“As neighbouring countries, we are in agreement that Malaysia and Brunei should not make the pandemic an obstacle in enhancing existing cooperation, ” he said.
He expressed his gratitude that Sultan of Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah had granted his request to pay an official visit to the country.“I conveyed my intention to make the visit in the first quarter of next year to coincide with the 23rd Annual Leaders’ Consultation, ” he said. — Bernama
