MB: Johor's Budget 2021 to revive, strengthen state's economy

JOHOR BARU: The state government hopes to revive and strengthen Johor's economy next year through a series of initiatives, says Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad.

“Johor's Budget 2021 will focus on three main aspects, which is to provide various initiatives to improve the people’s well-being, recover the economy, and build a strong fiscal and state economy, ” said Hasni.

“The strategy and initiatives under the Johor Budget 2021 would be one that is inclusive and would take into consideration the point of view of all levels of the society, ” he said in a statement here Wednesday (Nov 25).

He added that the state government is committed to improving the fiscal position of the state and said he was confident that they would be able to do so with the initiatives that will be announced soon.

“Johor's Budget 2021 is part of our efforts to improve the economy after the Ihsan Johor Economic Package that was previously announced, ” he said.

Hasni added that the government would focus on seven areas for the well-being of the people, including human resource development and employment opportunities.

He is set to table the Johor Budget 2021 at the state assembly in Kota Iskandar on Thursday (Nov 26).

The state assembly starts on Thursday and runs until Dec 6, and for the first time, those taking part in the debates as well as media personnel will be required to test for Covid-19.

The tabling of the state Budget would also be streamed on Facebook Live.
