Senator Ras Adiba Radzi confirms aide tested positive for Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: Senator Ras Adiba Radzi (pic) has confirmed that one of her aides tested positive for Covid-19.

"I wish to inform that one of my special aides, who is also my younger sister Ras Afiona Radzi, tested positive for Covid-19 after undergoing screening at Parliament on Oct 28," she said in a statement issued on Monday (Nov 2).

She said that 10 other family members have undergone screening and are currently waiting for their test results.

Ras Adiba, veteran newscaster and national paralympic athlete, was appointed to Dewan Negara in May this year to represent the OKU community.

Earlier in Dewan Rakyat, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan tabled the motion under Standing Order 12(1) to shorten the first day of Parliament sitting on Monday to 1pm.

He said this comes following the advice of Health Ministry officials after a Senator's officer tested positive for Covid-19.

The decision followed an emergency meeting with all party whip chiefs with Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun in his chambers at 10.30am.
