KLANG: Klang MP Charles Santiago wants all carwash outlets in the royal town to cease operations until the water supply returns to normal.
Santiago said he noticed several carwash outlets still operating as usual on Friday (Sept 4).
"The Klang Municipal Council must ensure all carwash outlets must stop operations now.
"The situation is very bad with taps in the whole of Klang running dry," said Santiago.
Santiago added that households must also use water sparingly and only when necessary.
"Even laundry must be done sparingly," said Santiago, adding that if the water contamination could not be arrested in time, the water supply could see a disruption of more than four days.
He said he had sought Syarikat Air Selangor's (Air Selangor) cooperation to provide water to Klang.
"However, I need big tankers that are clean to collect and deliver water to my constituents," said Santiago.
He said the tankers that were currently available were all rusty and cannot be used to fill water for consumption.
"Hopefully, some private companies will also come forward with tankers for us to use," he added.
Santiago also suggested that the Selangor state government reached out to neighbouring Perak and Negri Sembilan for water.
