Restaurant ordered to close temporarily

KUALA LUMPUR: A mamak restaurant here was ordered to close temporarily after two foreign workers were suspected to be infected by Covid-19.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the two workers were screened during a random exercise by district health officials on Saturday.

“Further investigation and samples will be taken.

“The restaurant has been temporarily shut down for sanitation and cleaning works,” he said in a statement yesterday. The closure order for two weeks was issued by the Federal Territo-ries Health Department to have the premises sanitised under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

It is understood that the two workers are both Indian nationals who live in Setapak.

Both of them were sent to Hospital Sungai Buloh on Saturday.
