Viral video of child abuse case not from M’sia

PETALING JAYA: The video of a child abuse case that has been circulating on social media was not taken in Malaysia, according to police.

The video, in which a boy can be seen being repeatedly hit with a rubber hose, occurred in China, said Bukit Aman CID deputy director Deputy Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid.

It is believed to have been shot in Sichuan.

The video, which has been circulating on Facebook and WhatsApp locally, shows the half-naked boy being hung upside down on a door frame.

He is then repeatedly hit by a man, believed to be his father.

The boy initially cries in pain, but eventually goes silent after the repeated beating.

The video clip was believed to have been recorded by the boy’s mother.

It is learnt that the boy has since been rescued by the Chinese authorities and is reportedly doing well.
