Bomba rescues dog that fell down 100ft ravine in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: A dog that fell into a ravine at Tanjung Bungah on Monday (May 4) has been rescued.

Bagan Jermal Fire & Rescue operation officer Harris Hakimi Abu Hassan said the station received a distress call from the public at 2.32pm and reached the scene 10 minutes later.

“Upon arriving, we found that the dog had fallen into the ravine which was about 100 feet below.

"After a size-up, we decided to make a pulley system so that our men could go down and bring the dog up to safety," he said in a statement Wednesday (May 6).

Harris said 10 firemen were deployed from the Bagan Jermal station in the rescue operation, and the operation was also assisted by Mount Erskine voluntary firefighters.

He added that although the conditions at the hill were slippery and dangerous, the dog was successfully rescued in the operation that took about two and a half hours.
