Abdul Rahim: It’s for a win-win situation

KOTA KINABALU: The decision of the Federal Government to adopt the conditional movement control order (MCO) in order to allow businesses to operate is aimed at creating a win-win situation, says Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri.

The Deputy Finance Minister said the decision was taken to strike a balance between protecting the public and national interest.

“The decision is for a win-win solution that weighs the people’s interest and the country’s overall interest, ” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the federal Cabinet decision was a collective one that took into account professional views from various agencies.

Abdul Rahim said the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic was handled by the Health Ministry as the regulator of the country’s health.

He said certain aspects of the decision also took into account medical input and advice of the World Health Organisation.

Abdul Rahim, who is the Kudat MP, said the people must play a role in ensuring success in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic by observing the standard operating procedure as advised by health officials.

Sabah and five other states are not immediately adopting the conditional MCO.
