SINAR Harian reported that Big Stage 2019 contestant from South Korea, Jang Han-byul (pic), 30, is still trying to master Bahasa Malaysia after spending almost a year in the country.
“I can understand a little but am not confident enough to converse in the Malay language.
“But I will continue to put in the effort to learn,” said the contestant of the local TV reality singing show.
He said that he was trying to improve his command of the
language as he had plans to stay in the country and to star in a movie later this year.
Han-byul said he had recorded his second single Retal, a composition by Amylea Azizan and Farouk Roman.
He said the song had taught him a lot about presenting a Malay song, particularly in conveying emotion.“It was one of the hardest songs I have ever recorded since I started singing,” he added.
On the Covid-19 pandemic, Han-byul said he sympathised with Malaysians affected by the disease and hoped that it would not become as serious as what had happened in South Korea.
He has yet to return home to South Korea owing to work here but he keeps up to date with the latest developments in his home country.
> Harian Metro reported that comedian Hazwan Azani from the group XOXO was injured in an accident along the New Klang Valley Expressway on Monday.
His wife Zana Farzana said Hazwan, better known as Wan,
suffered injuries to his face, hands and legs but was in a stable condition.
She added that her husband received several stitches for his facial wounds, which included a torn eyebrow.
The accident was said to have happened when the car Hazwan was driving struck a metal object which had fallen off the back of a lorry on the highway.
She said Hazwan was warded for treatment at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur and had yet to be discharged.
Fellow comedian Amir Raja Lawak shared the incident on his Instagram account and asked fans to pray for Hazwan’s recovery.
