DESPITE a challenging year, Koperasi Maju Jaya Malaysia Bhd has pledged to match its 2025 dividend payment to its members, Malaysia Nanban reported.
The co-operative’s chairman, Datuk Ibrahim Shah Sahul Hamid, announced that members will receive the 3% dividend payout during the cooperative’s 34th annual general meeting held at Mahsa Avenue in Petaling Jaya.
Ibrahim Shah said the co-operative remained on an upward trajectory, with the management committed to making it one of the country’s best-performing co-operatives.
Delegates from across the country were also buoyed by an announcement from Mahsa University founder, pro-chancellor and executive chairman Prof Tan Sri Dr Mohamed Haniffa Abdullah of a RM500,000 education assistance programme for members’ children.
> A man in Sri Lanka died after approaching a wild elephant to film it before the startled animal attacked him, Makkal Osai reported.
The victim, identified as Poobala Singam Kamaleswaran, 49, was passing a padi field, when he spotted the elephant.
He reportedly got too close, prompting the elephant to charge. Unable to escape, he was tossed by the enraged animal.
He died a few hours later.
Police are investigating the incident.
