Body of Bateq man exhumed for second post-mortem

GUA MUSANG: The body of a Bateq man buried in the forest near Kampung Kuala Koh has been exhumed for a second post-mortem examination.

Gua Musang OCPD Supt Mohd Taufik Maidin said Romi Hamdan's death was reported on May 29 and am initial post-mortem revealed he had died of pneumonia.

"His remains were transferred to Hospital Gua Musang at around 3.30pm," he said on Thursday (June 13).

He was buried according to Muslim rites and the second post-mortem will be carried out to conclusively determine the cause of his death.

Supt Taufik added that Romi's grave is not one of the 12 the search and recovery team are looking for.

The 12 are believed to have died from a yet-to-be-determined illness that inflicted the village.

So far, the team has found eight graves and are continuing the search for the rest deep in the jungle.

The remains of the eight were found on raised platforms as they were given their final rites according to traditional customs.

The operation team marked the locations of the graves and are expected to transfer the remains for further investigations soon.
