PUTRAJAYA : Mission accomplished. Hence the reason Datuk Seri Shukri Abdull is ending his contract after serving a year as the nation's top graft buster.
"I have done what I was tasked to do. My job here is done," he told The Star.
Shukri, 59, was appointed chief commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission on May 17, His contract was supposed to end in 2020.
He came back to serve again after opting for early retirement in August 2016, during the height of the 1MDB and SRC International scandal.
Shukri said one of his achievements was to bring back officers to the MACC and get them to work together.
"We also managed to get the public to cooperate with us – I say that MACC is on the right track now," he added.
On the appointment of Latheefa Koya as his successor, Shukri called on MACC officers and the public extend their cooperation to the new chief so that she can continue to "fight the good fight".
