Mohamad: Stop blaming me, your party’s the govt

SEREMBAN: Former mentri besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan (pic) has turned the tables on his challenger Dr S. Streram who has been bla­ming him for the delays in the ope­ning of the Rembau Hospital and the Fire and Rescue station here.

The Barisan Nasional candidate for the Rantau seat said the Pakatan Harapan man, an anaesthetist, should know that both were federal projects and that he had no control over them.

“Our role in the state (when Mohamad was Mentri Besar) was to allocate land for such projects. Today, the buildings for both projects are ready but they have yet to operate.“What I don’t understand is why Dr Streram has been blaming me when Pakatan has been the federal government since May last year.

“He should be asking the Health as well as the Housing and Local Government ministers why both buildings are not yet operational because they have the answers, not me,” he said in Kg Tanjung.

Dr Streram prior to this asked Mohamad why both premises had yet to operate although they were supposedly ready for occupation. Apart from Dr Streram, Mohamad will face two other independents in the April 13 by-election.

On a separate matter, Mohamad said those who wished to know what assets he had could always check with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission or with the Negri Sembilan secretariat.

“My state executive councillors, senior official and I last declared our assets in 2017 when we were in the government. If you really need to know what I own, you can check with them,” he said.

“In fact, I have been forced to sell my land, house and car because I do not have an income apart from a pension and some allowances.”

Mohamad was asked to respond to a statement by PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution, who during a ceramah on Monday, asked how much assets he owned.

Saifuddin said the present Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun has publicly declared his assets but no one knew what Mohamad owned.
