PASIR GUDANG: All 111 schools in the district here will continue to be closed due to toxic fumes, until the school holidays, says the Education Minister.

Dr Maszlee Malik said the decision was made following a briefing with the authorities and agencies involved in the clean-up operations here.

“The ministry is following the advice by these agencies … so all schools in the district here will continue to be close until the school holidays,” he said when met after visiting the medical base at the Pasir Gudang Indoor Stadium here on Monday (March 18).

He also advised students to take care of their health by drinking more water, and to take the opportunity to read more books during this unscheduled school break.

When asked if there would be replacement days for the schools involved, the Simpang Renggam MP said that the matter would be discussed soon.

On March 14, the government ordered the 111 schools in and around Pasir Gudang here to be closed.

The school holidays will run from March 22-30.
