It’s official: BN’s Ramli wins Camerons polls


PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional candidate Ramli Mohd Nor has won the Cameron Highlands by-election.

Ramli becomes the first-ever orang asli to be elected as a Member of Parliament after winning the by-election here.

Official results released by the Election Commission (EC) showed that Ramli won by a 3,238-vote majority over Pakatan Harapan candidate M. Manogaran.

According to official results, Ramli garnered 12,038 votes, while Manogaran garnered 8,800 votes. 

Meanwhile, independent candidates Sallehudin Ab Talib received 314 votes and Wong Seng Yee had 276 votes. 

There were 568 spoilt votes.

Voter turnout was at 68.8%, which translates to 21,428 voters.
