Anwar: Pay attention to EC rules

We must to adhere to these rules all the time, says Anwar.
PORT DICKSON: PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed hope that Pakatan Harapan candidates will be more alert and not violate any more rules when entering polling stations to cast their ballots in the future.

He said they should obey the rules of the Election Commission.

"We must to adhere to these rules all the time.

"Candidates should know and understand these provisions and processes, and that is why I fully support the EC when it took the necessary action," he said.

Anwar was asked to comment on a "mistake" by Pakatan Harapan's candidate M. Manogaran, who wore a party shirt to the polling centre at SK Senderut in Cameron Highlands this morning (Jan 26).

Manogaran said he made the mistake as he was in a rush. He left the polling centre immediately upon being told by the EC officer.

Based on EC rules, no individual is allowed to exhibit party logos or distribute campaign materials within the voting area, as well as 50m away from the centre.

Umno Youth Chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki posted two photographs of Manogaran wearing the shirt with his party logo on his Facebook account, adding that this was an election offence.
