Muhammad Adib, 24, passed away at 9.41pm on Monday (Dec 17) at the National Heart Institute (IJN), according to a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.

His death was also confirmed by Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.

His remains will be brought back to his hometown in Kampung Tebengau, Kedah, after final rites and prayers are conducted at IJN on Monday night.

His burial is expected to take place after Zohor prayers on Tuesday (Dec 18).

On Sunday (Dec 16), IJN said that Muhammad Adib’s condition was critical after suffering progressive deterioration of his lung and kidney function over the past 24 hours.

Muhammad Adib was allegedly beaten up by several people on Nov 27 during the riots near the temple caused by a dispute over its proposed relocation.
