Musa maintains he is still CM

KOTA KINABALU: Tan Sri Musa Aman is maintaining that he is still the rightful Sabah Chief Minister.

“Please note that nothing has changed. Musa has not resigned. He is still the rightful Chief Minister,” according to a terse statement sent out by his press secretary Afeiza Khan last night.

The latest statement by Musa is an indication that the showdown between him and Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal isn’t expected to die off any time soon.

This despite Shafie being sworn in on Saturday at the Istana Negeri by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

Yesterday, Shafie told a press conference at his private residence in Taman Golfview here that Musa should tender his resignation.

Otherwise, a constitutional crisis would erupt as Shafie said he was installed legitimately.

Musa, he said, could challenge his position in court if he was unhappy.

Shafie said Juhar had called Musa, who was sworn in as Chief Minister on Thursday, to ask for his resignation when he (Juhar) was convinced that Warisan and its partners Upko, PKR and DAP had enough seats to form the state government.

However, Musa did not step down, even chairing a state Cabinet meeting after meeting with Juhar on Saturday morning.

But the guards at Sri Gaya, the official residence of the Chief Minister, confirmed that Musa packed up his belongings shortly before Shafie was sworn in at 9pm.
