DAP Manoharan's wife wants Klang seat

KLANG: The wife of former DAP Kota Alam Shah assemblyman M. Manoharan wants to be the candidate for the state seat in the coming general election.

S. Pushpaneela, 57, says she is the most deserving to contest as she has put in a lot of effort in the constituency and to DAP as well.

“I have campaigned and worked alongside my husband in Kota Alam Shah since the 12th general election.

“I have served the constituents and managed the Kota Alam Shah service centre for a year while my husband was detained under the Internal Security Act,” she said.

Pushpaneela is Klang DAP women’s wing chief. Manoharan won the Kota Alam Shah seat while under detention during the 2008 general election.

She claimed the Klang Wanita DAP has become the biggest women’s wing in the party nationwide because of her hard work.

Pushpanela said despite her husband being dropped as a candidate during the last general election, she had continued to work quietly in Kota Alam Shah.

She said she had made requests to contest in the seat to DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, deputy chairman Gobind Singh Deo and Selangor Wanita chief Hannah Yeoh.
