PETALING JAYA: Two areas in Sarawak recorded hazardous Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 11am on Wednesday (Sept 2), with Kuching recording the highest reading of 316.
According to data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, the other area in Sarawak which recorded hazardous API readings was the Serian district police headquarters (309).
Six areas in the state recorded very unhealthy readings, namely Samarahan (292), Sibu (284), Sarikei (275), Mukah (232), Bintulu (223) and Sri Aman (211).
A total of 16 areas recorded unhealthy API readings, with the monitoring station at the Miri Industrial Training Institute (ILP) recording 183, followed by Kota Kinabalu (179), Johan Setia (162) and Putrajaya (152).
Meanwhile, 44 areas nationwide were reported to have moderate readings.
An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and above 300 hazardous.
