KUALA LUMPUR: A private helicopter will be sent out to look for 17 Malaysians who remain missing after flash floods hit Nepal’s Rasuwa district.
Fishtail Tours & Travels representative Roshan Panday said arrangements were made for the helicopter to search the group’s last known location, reported Sin Chew Daily.
“I am sending a helicopter privately today. Let’s see if we can find any traces,” he told a news portal on Tuesday (Sept 1).
He said the search operation was expected to last between 45 and 60 minutes.
The helicopter will be flown to the last known location of the Malaysians, who were travelling together in the affected area.
“If possible, we plan to land near the last spotted coordinates,” he said.
Roshan said the search had been complicated by unfavourable weather and the large number of SOS calls being received in the area, which had affected helicopter operations.
“The weather is not so cooperative and helicopter schedules are mostly hampered because of SOS calls,” he said.
The 17 Malaysians have remained uncontactable since the flash floods struck Rasuwa.
Roshan said the latest search would focus on locating any signs of the group as rescue efforts continued under difficult weather conditions.
