KOTA KINABALU: Tourists to Sabah can now experience the state’s reforestation efforts in east coast Lahad Datu district. At the 5,400ha Bukit Piton Forest Reserve where the orang utan has seen a return, tourists get to plant native fruit trees such as laran and sangkuang that are food for the primates.
The visits are organised by forester Dr Benedict Teo who has been working with the Sabah Forestry Department for nearly a decade on the reforestation project at Bukit Piton and the nearby Ulu Segama Forest Reserve.
