KL Hospital to conduct post-mortem on Jong-nam

PUTRAJAYA: The body of Kim Jong-nam has been moved from Putrajaya Hospital to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) for a post-mortem to be conducted. 

Police armed with sub-machine guns escorted a hospital van believed to be carrying the body from Putrajaya Hospital.

The van left the mortuary with policemen in three police cars at about 9am Wednesday. It is learnt that a post-mortem on Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, will be carried out in HKL.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Ali was earlier seen arriving at the Putrajaya Hospital mortuary in an unmarked police car together with investigating officers at around 8am.

He left the hospital in the car an hour later. The car drove away together with the hospital van and the other police cars.

When contacted, Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Seri Abdul Samah Mat said the body of the North Korean man, who held a passport under the name of Kim Chol, was sent to HKL for a post-mortem.

"I confirm that the body was transferred to HKL for post-mortem from Putrajaya Hospital.

"HKL has better facilities to deal with post-mortem procedures," he said.

He added that he expects the post-mortem to be carried out Wednesday and completed by evening.

Jong-nam, 45, died after he was attacked at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) on Monday. His body was taken to the Putrajaya Hospital.

He is believed to have been attacked by two female agents who splashed his face with a chemical at the airport’s departure hall at about 9am on Monday. He was to take a flight to Macau.

The women later got into a cab and fled.

It is believed that Jong-nam arrived in Malaysia from Macau on Feb 6 and was about to leave when he was attacked.
