‘Umno will protect all M’sians’

Umno will remain committed to protecting the rights of all Malay­sians regardless of race and religion, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his maiden Umno general assembly speech as the party’s de facto number two.

The party vice-president, who is carrying out the duties of the deputy president, said many urban voters – the majority of them non-Malays – had rejected Umno and Barisan Nasional in the last general election.
