Umno will remain committed to protecting the rights of all Malaysians regardless of race and religion, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his maiden Umno general assembly speech as the party’s de facto number two.
The party vice-president, who is carrying out the duties of the deputy president, said many urban voters – the majority of them non-Malays – had rejected Umno and Barisan Nasional in the last general election.
