Christ’s suffering remembered

Thousands of Catholic and non Christian pilgrims and devotees from all over Malaysia and Singapore convered at Malaccas St. Peters Church to participate in a massive late evening candlelight procees to commemorate Good Friday celebrations.Starting from inside the 1710-built edifice and considered as Malaysias oldest Roman Catholic Church, the procession participants with lighted candles in hand made their way out of the churchs main entrance along Jalan Pengkalan Rama into Jalan Munchi Abdullah and JHlan Bukit China before winding its way back to the church via the back entrance.

PETALING JAYA: Christians marked Good Friday with prayers, fasting and abstinence as they commemorated the day Jesus Christ was crucified.

Churches held several solemn services over the day, with hymns, prayers of thanksgiving and a message centred on Christ’s suffering.
