Selangor to work with police over militant threat

SHAH ALAM: The racial and religious diversity in Selangor is no reason for any quarters to carry out extremist activities in the state.

The state government will work with police against crime, including the threat posed by Daesh militants, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

"We have regular talks and discussions with the police, but they are more towards curbing crime in Selangor.

"However, the state government is ready to work with the police on the Daesh issue and to play its role in maintaining peace and security in the state," he told reporters after attending the monthly meeting of state government agencies, here, yesterday.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had announced that police had raised the security alert to the highest level in Malaysia after a militant bomb attack in Jakarta last Thursday.
