Consumer groups up in arms over panel’s proposal


PETALING JAYA: Consumer groups are up in arms over the Land Public Transport Commission’s (SPAD) proposal for a nationwide increase in public transport fares.

Fomca supreme council member Ahmad Othman said a fare increase plus the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to be imposed in April next year will be a “double whammy” for lower income commuters who rely on public transport.
